  1. Standard Treatment  Radical nephrectomy or, in selected cases, a simple nephrectomy.

  3. Five-Year Survival  50 to 65 percent 
  4.  
  5. Investigational  Postoperative interferon and IL-2 are being evaluated.
  6.  
  7. Stage III 
  8. TNM T3b, N1-3, M0 
  9. The tumor invades the renal vein (T3b, N0, M0), the inferior vena cave (T3b) or regional lymph nodes (T3b, N1-3, M0).
  10.     Approximately 25 to 35 percent of cases are found in Stage III, 60 percent of whom will have micrometastases found at the time of surgery.

  12. Standard Treatment  Radical nephrectomy.

  14. Five-Year Survival  30 to 45 percent 
  15.  
  16. Investigational  Same as for Stage II.
